News from Crook & the Wear Valley

 

Car Parking in Crook remains free as proposals to introduce charging and time limits on parking in Crook are not being pursued at the present time, Wear Valley Council have informed us. However, new on-street restrictions apply in different parts of the town so watch out for the yellow lines!

Work on the Durham County Council/Wear Valley District Council Crook Town Centre Rennaisance Project is now well under way again with new paving being put  in along the length of Hope Street and the oversize trees are coming down.

The Weardale Railway continues to run weekend services between Wolsingham and Stanhope with weekday services during school holidays.

The long term aim is to operate the whole line from the Network Rail station at Bishop Auckland to Eastgate calling at Witton Park, Witton-le-Wear, Harperley, Wolsingham, Frosterley and Stanhope with through services also to Shildon (Locomotion national railway museum) and Darlington Bank Top on the East Coast Main Line.
